Don't...
So many times during my four years at THE, I threatened to take a picture of this and blow it up as a poster to put on my wall. One day during dinner, I was recounting this to a group of friends and the Soldier decided why not, and snapped this picture for me.While the story seems a little ridiculous now, so many days it is easy to get so caught up in the moment that we do just that, we panic. We used to joke that our degrees from THE were really BAs in Crisis Management.
As I look at this picture it makes me think, what good does pressing a panic button actually do. It makes it more difficult in most circumstances to actually get through whatever stressful situation one is actually going through, and certainly makes it harder what one ought to do in this situation.
Since Sundays seem to be the days for posting collects, please consider this one the next time you feel like panicing:
O God of peace, who hast taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be our strength: By the might of thy Spirit lift us, we pray thee, to thy presence, where we may be still and know that thou art God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
