THE Wire Report for August 18th

In Town this week...

The Stewardess has flown back into town, giving us all a grand total of four days advance notice. She has taken a position at a legal agency in town, also plunging back into the academic life by taking up Greek I (taught by Homer-wouldn't-this-make-a-great-movie).

Miss Hughes has also arrived back in town. She is reconsidering life in the very fast lane, and thinking that she may go to law school, and then try and go JAG, instead. (She is suggesting that Ceil make a similar career move. Comments, anyone?)

Career Moves

Miss Walters has taken a position as a journalist again, securing the Reston beat for a local paper. Bozo has just also just gotten a new job, working for a human rights organization. Antigone is completing her internship with a magazine out in Seattle. Our columnist heard that she especially enjoyed the writers conference her office attended in New Mexico. Gball is now working as a paralegal in tort law, and seriously considering law school.

Relocating...

Our columnist is told that Virginia Beach is becoming a very popular location. We understand that WOOsh has just arrived and is settling into law school. He recounts in his blog all the work lawschool is requiring and then admits that *shock* he is actually enjoying it. He and CovenantSon have managed to get together for coffee, and it sounds like they are appreciating having a familiar face around. (CovenantSon has just settled into Portsmouth and is preparing for life as a highschool teacher.) We also hear that M&E L. have settled in, and WOOsh has seen them around school (and more importantly, he been invited to dinner:-P).

The Fieldings are just getting settled in Texas, and having just arrived this week. We hear from reliable sources that they are trying to work out a trip back to the area in October for THE's homecoming and Annual Meeting. We'll keep our fingers crossed that it works out. It won't be the same without them in the area this year!!!

and Coming into Town...

Though Miss Anne likely won't make it here for the big October reunion, she is using her fall break to come back from Scotland in September before she begins her new PhD program.

Rumor has it that the Peach Boys are coming!!! We understand that Orlando is moving up to PA this week, and that wedding plans are coming along well! (Rosalind is very happy and staying busy between the approaching wedding and preparing to teach kindergarten this fall.) We also hear that the other Peach Boy may be bringing Aravis and the baby up for Sprintcess' wedding in October!!! Fun times! Gball and Kermit are also purported to be planning an October trip to THE. Reports are mixed though as to which weekend they are expected.

The Newly Weds

We hear that a Man-Called-Peter and his bride managed to survive their honeymoon, having made the last minute decision to risk Emily and all her fury. While they had to change hotels when they got there (their original hotel ended up being demolished), they said that after the 3/4" of water was squeegeed out of their room from the storm that night, the weather was "actually quite lovely."

Other News

Though the Dictatrix Ivana didn't grow up with the Blue and White, we understand that she has been under going the Basics, though taking everything with a much needed grain of salt. She has recently introduced the Soldier to Harry Potter, and they have decided that they needn't start a book burning just yet:-P

And what about Ceil? She is staying busy working on all the details for her committee meetings, throwing bridal showers and PA weekends. She attempting to finish her Indonesian this fall and also trying to figure out if she has time to take some grad school courses next semester. Meanwhile, she'll be down in the area of THE six out of the next nine weeks for various weddings, meetings, shopping expeditions, etc. If you would like to see her, drop her an email or call to schedule your thirty minute slot:-P j/k [Seriously though, let me know if you are free some weekend. Probably can't fit in a road trip, but maybe coffee or something, and I would love to catch up with you.] As to persistant rumors as to whether she will run for a second term, her office didn't return calls asking for comment by the time this article went to press.
