What is the new "The"?

There was a group of lawyers in the Northern Virginia area who all attended the same prominent university for law school. As they got together in the years after school, they referred to the school at "the University." After a while, they realized that "University" was superfluous because they all knew which school they were refering to, so that they could shorten it merely to THE. As most readers of the Whispering Spot will recognize, our school is so blatently obvious to us, that it shall be referred to in this blog as THE.
